David Carter is a senior partner and co-founder of the firm. His practice encompasses the entire scope of IP law, including patent, trademark and copyright prosecution and litigation. He also advises clients on licensing, protecting trade secrets and related matters. Mr. Carter is presently focused on patent prosecution, working with clients who are designing portfolios comprised primarily of medical and surgical devices. As a senior partner, Mr. Carter also assists in managing the firm’s business matters and overseeing the firm’s associates and junior partners to ensure that their work meets client expectations.
Mr. Carter attended the United States Military Academy at West Point. He was naturally drawn to science and technology, and he studied physics at the New York Institute of Technology where he earned his B.S. He quickly realized that the field of IP and securing patent protection was evolving along with the rapid pace of technological advances. Knowing his engineering background made him well-suited to become a patent attorney, he attended St. John’s University School of Law and earned his J.D.
