Eric N. Welch, P.C.

Mr. Welch has been practicing law for more than 30 years, handling criminal cases, family law cases, personal injury, contracts, probate and real estate matters. Mr. Welch has vast experience representing people accused of major crimes, including murder, rape, robbery, burglary, drugs, theft, sex offenses, fraud, burglary, and child molestation, forgery, aggravated assault and battery. He investigates the cases thoroughly and helps his clients decide whether to proceed to trial or negotiate more with the prosecutor to reach an acceptable resolution. As in felony court, Mr. Welch continues to represent people accused of misdemeanors in state court in charges including DUI, shoplifting, assault, battery, marijuana possession, spousal abuse and a variety of other charges.

As a family law attorney, he represents people in divorce, custody, support, contempt and property cases in Marietta and metro Atlanta courts. If a satisfactory settlement cannot be reached before formal proceedings, the case will go to mediation for another attempt at settlement. He counsels his clients before and during mediation and attempts to reach a resulution without a costly court battle. If a resolution cannot be reached by agreement, he will prepare for a hearing or a trial and will assist clients in being ready for courtroom activities. Georgia allows litigants to have a jury trial in divorce cases, and Mr. Welch will work with clients before and during court appearances.

He has represented hundreds of clients in jury trials in Georgia and federal courts and has appealed numerous cases to higher courts, including the Georgia Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court. He maintains warm, professional relationships with many judges, prosecutors, and opposing attorneys. One of his favorite jobs is helping young people accused in juvenile court of wrongdoings, where special skills and experience are important in addition to legal training and skills.

In law school at Mercer University in Macon, Ga., Mr. Welch worked as a reporter and editor for a daily newspaper and held a part time job in the law school library. He supported his wife and three children and graduated debt free to begin his law practice in Atlanta.

Potental clents usually will have their first office interview directly with Mr. Welch. If he is in court, that first interview will be with a highly qualified parqlegal. He has worked with a variety of clients, ranging from the poorest to the very wealthy, from illiterate to highly educated, from people who do not understand our legal system to people who have worked in it for years. He has represented doctors, police officers, firefighters, corporate executives, laborers, lawyers, clerks, airline pilots, real estate brokers, teachers, prosecutors, and people who speak no English as well as hearing impaired persons and clients who have physical or mental problems. Consultations are private and confidential. Reasonable fees are set in the initial consultation.

After hour and weekend appointments could be arranged. Most major credit cards are accepted.
