Isenberg & Hewitt, PC, was established in 1985 by our attorneys, Harriet C. Isenberg and Melvin L. Hewitt Jr. Since our firm’s founding, we have evolved and now focus our practice on legal matters ranging from commercial collections and business litigation to personal injury and crime victims compensation.

Harriet C. Isenberg, an AV Preeminent-rated* attorney, has been in practice for 27 years, having already established herself in the business community as the principal of her own real estate investment company and later in the management of local and regional operations for several national, publicly held corporations. Ms. Isenberg is one of Atlanta’s best-known and notable lawyers in the areas of commercial litigation, debt collection and creditors’ rights. A charter member and multiterm chair of the Creditors’ Rights section of the State Bar of Georgia, a member of the Commercial Law League of America and International Association of Commercial Collectors, a director and president of the Apartment Vendors Association and a member of the Construction Credit Group of Atlanta and a charter member of Georgia Creditors Council, which is a legislative action group concerning creditors rights.

Melvin L. Hewitt Jr. an AV Preeminent-rated* attorney who brings considerable corporate and business experience to the firm, having served as the vice president of operations, general counsel and ultimately president of one of the largest, publicly traded private security companies in the world, where he was responsible for 13,000 employees and more than 100 offices throughout the United States and Europe. Mr. Hewitt brings more than 25 years of litigation experience to his work. He is a member of the American Association of Justice and the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association.

Ryan L. Isenberg primarily litigates business disputes arising out of corporate disassociation, trademarks, domain name disputes, business torts and restrictive covenants. He also does substantial work in the areas of business formation, trademark registration, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial transactions. He is a member of the American Bar Association Section of Business Law and the Business Law and Creditors’ Rights sections of the State Bar of Georgia.

Brent J. Kaplan has been a trial lawyer since 1983 and is AV Preeminent-rated.* He has extensive experience in a wide range of practice areas, including property insurance coverage, measurement and subrogation cases, bad faith claims, and disputes under comprehensive general liability policies. Mr. Kaplan also has extensive experience in personal injury cases, including wrongful death, product liability and medical negligence. In addition, Mr. Kaplan has litigated numerous commercial cases, including class and collective actions, and has significant experience litigating restrictive covenants in employment contracts. He has been recognized by his peers as a Georgia Super Lawyer.

Hilary (Wayne) Hunter is admitted to practice law in Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina, as well as before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Ms. Hunter is experienced in matters involving complex business litigation, intellectual property disputes, and patent, copyright and trademark infringement. Ms. Hunter also has considerable experience drafting patent and trademark applications. She is currently a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, The Lawyers Club of Atlanta and the Junior League of Atlanta.

Eric N. Van De Water has developed a commercial litigation practice with an emphasis on creditors’ rights and construction and real estate litigation for the past 15 years. He helps clients resolve issues with business customers ranging from simple account collections to more complex contract disputes and suits to enforce lien or bond rights in connection with construction projects. He also assists clients with pre-litigation strategies as well as actions in the state, federal and bankruptcy courts of Georgia.
