Mr. Kurtz was born in New York City, NY, and moved to the Atlanta area with his family in the late 1950’s. He attended Druid Hills High School, graduated in 1969, earning a basketball scholarship to Tulane University. He transferred to Oglethorpe University in Atlanta and received a B.A. summa cum laude in 1973. He played intercollegiate basketball for four years. He was a member of academic honor societies, Alpha Chi, and Phi Alpha Theta. He was elected to Who’s Who Among Students in Colleges and Universities in 1973. He attended University of Georgia School of Law, graduating in June of 1977. He has been a member of the State Bar of Georgia, in good standing, since June 10, 1977. He is a member of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia. He is also a member of the Cobb County, Georgia Bar Association. After working for other attorneys, he opened his own office in November of 1980, in the Cobb County, Georgia area. He has handled thousands of domestic relations and other cases, focusing on achieving the best possible results for his clients. His assistant, Sandi Brawner, has 35 years legal experience in Cobb County, Georgia. She has been with Mr. Kurtz since 2002, and is an integral part of the office. Mr. Kurtz and his wife Marcia have been married for 32 yrs., and are active in the Cobb County community. They have two grown children who reside in the Atlanta area.
