The Law Office of Jennifer Melia in Worcester is here to meet that need. Ms. Melia’s 15 years of legal experience has touched upon virtually every area of family law — from child support to property division, from special needs issues to grandparents’ rights.

TRAINING AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Eleven years working as a Family Service Officer of the Worcester Probate and Family Court. mediating and investigating contested issues for the court, evaluator of the mandatory class for divorcing parents.
Four years of experience working for the Department of Social Services as an investigator, assessment worker, ongoing worker, member of the Sexual Abuse Unit, and the SAIN interviewing team working with families involved in allegations of child neglect, physical abuse and sexual abuse.
Attorney Melia attended a thirty three hour mediation training at the Community Dispute Center in Cambridge. (May 2007).
Attorney Melia worked as an approved mediator by the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee through the Family Service Department of the Worcester Probate and Family Court.
Trained in Guardian Ad Litem investigating through Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education.
Trained in drug and alcohol abuse and it’s effects on the family through the Commissioner of Probation and the Department of Social Services.
Trained in Domestic Violence through the Commissioner of Probation and the Department of Social Services.
Trained in Mental Health issues for adults through the Commissioner of Probation.
Undergraduate Research at the University of Connecticut on Autistic Children and Symbolic Play.
