David Scott Glicken is a Florida native, and has been a resident of Orlando since 1970. Mr. Glicken got his start in the legal profession in the area of criminal defense in December 1981 when he worked with the Office of the State Attorney, in the Criminal Intake Division. In 1982, Mr. Glicken appeared for the first time before the Florida Supreme Court and successfully argued a case appealed directly from the Circuit Court. Mr. Glicken became the second assistant state attorney (and youngest) to be named as legal advisor to the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation (MBI), a multi-law enforcement agency, soon after starting at the State Attorney’s Office.
In 1984, he struck out on his own in private practice, and founded The Glicken Law Firm in 1986. Over the years, Mr. Glicken has represented clients in state and federal courts, including juvenile matters, civil litigation, personal injury, felonies, misdemeanors, and family law matters. Mr. Glicken has been lead attorney in multiple first degree death penalty murder cases and has obtained civil jury verdicts in excess of $1,000,000.
Today, The Glicken Firm, is primarily focused on handling cases concerning family law, including divorce, child custody and visitation disputes, child support, premarital agreements, paternity, adoption, domestic violence, modifications and other complex family law matters. Mr. Glicken obtained custody rights for fathers in 1988, which was not a common practice at the time. Mr. Glicken has appeared before the Florida Supreme Court several times during his career as well as the District Court of Appeals throughout Florida. Mr. Glicken has been previously certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a mediator in county civil, circuit civil, and family law matters.
In addition to handling family law cases, Mr. Glicken maintains a criminal defense practice where he puts his three decades of experience, his comprehensive knowledge of the criminal justice system and Florida and federal law to use defending the rights of his clients.
Mr. Glicken currently serves on the board of directors for the Florida State University Torchbearer’s Board and has served on the board of directors for the Central Florida Catholic Youth League for six years. Mr. Glicken is currently serving his second consecutive term as president of the Central Florida Catholic Youth League, an organization serving the needs of more than 1,000 student-athletes each year. Believing in the philosophy of giving back to the community, Mr. Glicken volunteers more than 1,200 hours each year to nonprofit organizations. Mr. Glicken lives in College Park with his wife, Lisa Vicars-Glicken, and their two wonderful daughters, Delaney and Devon, who attend St. James Cathedral School.
