Overview:
Bruce M. Pennamped works with clients involved in matrimonial and family law matters including paternity, divorce, child custody, parenting time/visitation, child support, interstate disputes and post-decree modifications.
Bruce M. Pennamped was the recipient of the Indiana State Bar Association Family and Juvenile Law Section 2005 Gale M. Phelps Award.
The Gale Phelps Award is named in honor of Gale M. Phelps, a former Chair of the Family and Juvenile Law Section of the Indiana State Bar Association. The award recognizes Gale’s contributions by annually honoring an attorney who elevated the standards of professionalism in family law. Receiving the award is a sign that the recipient has improved the profession of family law attorney, always exhibiting the highest moral and ethical standards.
PROFESSIONAL HISTORY
Bruce works only in the field of family law. Bruce received his B.S. in Business Management and Administration in 1970 and J.D. in 1972, both from Indiana University. Career accomplishments include: Certified Family Law Specialist-Family Law Certification Board; Co-Chair; Family Law Certification Board; Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, an organization which requires as a condition of fellowship, demonstrated ability in Family Law matters, a minimum admission to the bar of ten years and 75 percent specialization in matrimonial law. Bruce serves on the Indiana Child Custody and Support Advisory Committee, a committee created by statute to make recommendations to the Indiana Supreme Court on the Child Support Guidelines adopted by it and on other items relating to the welfare of a child of a family no longer intact. Bruce is a pro bono volunteer and attorney for the Hamilton County Guardian Ad Litem Program, and has served as Majority Attorney for the Indiana House of Representatives. Bruce is the past chairman and executive committee member of the Indianapolis Bar Association’s Family Law Committee.
Bruce is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association and American Bar Association. He has served as participant, on numerous panels, and authored texts over the better part of his career for the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum, Indiana State Bar Association, Family and Juvenile Law Section, and the Indianapolis Bar Association for seminars on family law topics. Bruce is included in The Best Lawyers in America, Swarthmore’s Who’s Who in American Law. In 2009, Bruce was named Lawyer of the Year, Family Law, Indianapolis, Indiana by The Best Lawyers in America. Bruce holds an AV rating from Martindale & Hubbell, and has been designated by the editors of Law & Politics and the publishers of Indianapolis Monthly each year since 2004 as an Indiana Super Lawyer; and, in 2010 was designated as one of the “Top Ten Attorneys In Indiana by the publication.
