comphardhead The practice of intellectual property law, for me, is a way of supporting my intellectual curiosity. I am not interested in merely churning out patent applications and am not satisfied with a familiarity with inventions that cross my desk. I want to understand the inventions I protect in terms of the technological, legal, social, and economic contexts that breathe value into my client’s endeavors. For the practice of law to be satisfying, I need to feel that I am assisting the ideas I work with to reach their potential.
Unlike most patent attorneys, who focus entirely on preparing and prosecuting patent applications, I also leverage several years of experience in litigation when I draft a patent. I not only draft a patent to get through the patent office, I draft a patent that will hold up in court. If a business truly relies on its IP, it does itself a disservice if it does not draft for the courtroom so as to diminish the potential for entering one.
In addition to my native interest in technological innovation, I have worked hard, and continue to work hard, to acquire technical acumen. I have a Master’s Degree in electrical engineering, received high marks in engineering coursework, and continue to devote time to advance my understanding of technologies.
My firm conviction is that I offer my clients something that cannot be matched, both in terms of cost and quality, by the traditional law-firm business model. I am comfortable charging much less than what is charged by larger law firms, while providing work product of superior quality. I have worked at several respected law firms. I know what the expectations of firms are for quality and how to exceed them.
