Overview:
RAS ASSOCIATES, PLLC was founded by attorney Luis F. Ras, Esq., after fifteen (15) years of legal experience in varied fields of law, with an emphasis on litigation and trial work. After graduating from Fordham University Law School in 1990, Mr. Ras spent his first fifteen years of practice in various large to mid size Manhattan firms, gaining experience centered around the defense of tort matters ranging from the straightforward two party variety to complex multi-party, multidistrict federal and state litigations. These cases covered fields as diverse as aviation, maritime, complex property damage claims, environmental tort cases, commercial litigation, medical and professional malpractice, complex construction, vehicular and industrial product products liability cases, auto/truck/bus and construction machinery cases.

Our firm strongly believes in a litigant’s right to his or her day in court, and prepares every case with a view towards ultimately presenting a client’s case to a jury. We pride ourselves in building a case from the ground up, assuming nothing from the start.

On occasions where our clients’ rights can only be fairly protected or asserted via recourse to appellate courts, our firm does not hesitate to take appeals. We are proud to have participated in creating jurisprudential precedent in various areas of the law, in both State and federal courts. Our cases have been prominently featured in legal publications such as the New York Law Journal and Jury Verdict Reporter, and we have been asked to provide forms for inclusion in widely recognized industry form treatise publications.

Throughout the years, Mr. Ras has also been mentioned in several daily newspapers and telecasts in relation to professional matters, such as the New York Daily News, the New York Post, and Telemundo, and authored advice columns. He has been interviewed and asked for opinion content in different areas of law.

Mr. Ras strongly believes in civic and environmental responsibility, striving to assist both endeavors through participation as a Board member for the Evergreen Charter School in Hempstead, New York, the first LEEDS-certified non-profit structure built on Long Island.

The Firm counts on a network of professionals who serve as counsel to the Firm as needed, with strengths in various fields of law. Mr. Ras is admitted to the bar in the States of New York and New Jersey; in the Federal District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, Northern, and Western Districts of New York; in the Federal District Court for District of New Jersey; and in the Federal District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
