Michael is a commercial barrister providing specialist advice and representation in New Zealand and internationally on matters involving commercial, financial markets, governmental and regulatory law.Michael commenced practice at the independent Bar in New Zealand in 1995. Before then, for many years he was a senior partner in a major New Zealand law firm.
In 2003 Michael was appointed as Chair of the Ministerial Task force on the Regulation of Financial Intermediaries. In 2011 he was appointed as a foundation Board Member of the new Financial Markets Authority in New Zealand, and in June 2016 completed a five-year appointment and re-appointment in that role. He continues to be involved in financial sector development and regulatory matters internationally.
