Loeb & Loeb was established in 1909. Founders Edwin and Joseph Loeb played a major role in the development of the city of Los Angeles in the early 1900s, helping establish such institutions as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Union Bank of California. In 1986, Loeb & Loeb merged with Hess Segal, a New York firm of comparable quality and vintage.
The firm has since undergone focused and strategic expansion in key markets. In 1994, Loeb & Loeb opened an office in Nashville as a specialized extension of our Music Industry and Entertainment and Media practices. In 2003, the firm opened its office in Chicago with five attorneys from an IP boutique. Today, the growing Chicago office has more than 30 attorneys practicing in IP and patent law, advanced media and technology, finance, corporate, bankruptcy, and business litigation.
Active in China for nearly 20 years, the firm opened a representative office in Beijing in 2009 to service a rapidly growing number of Asian clients and to support a robust international practice. In that same year, the firm expanded its transactional and regulatory platform with the addition of a premier Energy Practice team and opened the Washington, DC, office. The DC office has since grown to include a leading group of trusts and estates attorneys, who add to Loeb & Loeb’s national capability in this area.
Most recently, the firm further expanded its practice in Asia with the launch of a Hong Kong affiliate office, which is initially focused on capital markets transactions, as well as mergers and acquisitions and general corporate and commercial transactions.
