Joliet Native Neil Adams Has Extensive Experience in Criminal Law

Neil Adams has longstanding ties to Joliet, having attended Joliet Catholic High School and Joliet Junior College. He completed his college degree at Northern Illinois University where he also attended law school. After passing the bar on the first attempt in 1993, he returned to his hometown where he worked for 10 years in the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office.

There, he served in the narcotics unit for three years and as the Chief Felony Prosecutor for four years. In that capacity, he supervised the daily operation of 30 felony prosecutors responsible for almost 3,000 criminal cases every year. He also served as lead counsel on several high-profile murder cases, including the only case in Illinois history where the accused was found guilty of both murder and attempted murder in the same proceeding. As a defense attorney, he successfully defended a client accused of murder in a high-profile road rage case.

After four years as the Chief Felony Prosecutor, Mr. Adams returned to the private sector, largely due to his belief that every citizen is entitled to a fair trial. In 2008, Mr. Adams set up his own criminal defense practice, and he has been working in that capacity for the last four years. In addition to criminal law, Mr. Adams also regularly represents clients in Juvenile court at both the trial and appellate level.

He continues to regularly accept appointments by the Will County Court as Guardian ad Litem for both minors and disabled adults. Although he limits his practice to these areas, he is always happy to help you find an attorney if you need help with a different area of law.
