Kelly B. Sims, Foot Soldier of the Constitution and Board-Certified Criminal Trial Specialist
“Don’t Panic” ― Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

As a lawyer, I have always fought for justice, including six years exclusively litigating on the biggest stage in law, defending people facing death by the electric chair or lethal injection. Three decades later, after litigating hundreds of cases in courtrooms throughout Florida, I still enjoy the fight for justice as the owner and only attorney at the Law Office of Kelly B. Sims, PA. When you hire my firm, you get me and my vast experience, not some junior partner fresh out of law school. Because of my extensive background, I am frequently asked by organizations to speak to both my peers and the public on subjects ranging from ethics in the law to the death penalty. I’ve also written numerous well-received articles for the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
“Never, never, never, never give up.” – Winston Churchill

Back in the day, I was an athlete, captain of my high school football team and wrestling squad. Now, I try to be an athlete – when my knees let me – by running the occasional race. You know, playing sports is a great teacher and what I learned through competing works well when practicing law: persistence, hard work and the desire to win are the road to victory. I used to triumph on the football field or a wrestling mat, but now my victories happen in the courtroom or at the negotiations table.

Although my lengthy and interesting career has given me a vast storehouse of knowledge about criminal defense and family law, I continue to educate myself in legal matters related to my areas of practice such as:

Forensic pathology
Blood spatter analysis
Crime scene reconstruction
Motor vehicle accident reconstruction
Identification methods (fingerprint, hair)
DNA analysis
Battered spouse syndrome

Death penalty legislation
Psychological and psychiatric issues
Victims’ rights
Ethics
Collaborative divorce
High-profile cases and media inquiries
Alternate resolutions
