We are a community-based law firm that has been operating in the same location for over 30 years. We take pride in personally responding to every client and treating each one with respect, compassion, and courtesy. For many clients, the cost of hiring a lawyer for basic services can be prohibitively expensive. Therefore, we tailor our fees to the individual financial situation, establishing a flat fee whenever possible. We are a general law practice, and a complete listing of our practice areas can be found by clicking here.

The lawyers at Katz and Whitehead are committed to serving your needs – whether it is for the purpose of buying a home, opening a small business, family law and divorce, wills, injuries, criminal, or general litigation. Katz and Whitehead will defend your interests zealously. We litigate on behalf of our clients not only in the lower courts but we are committed to pursue and defend your interests in the Appeals Court and Supreme Judicial Court as well. Katz and Whitehead was responsible for creating new law in a case against the MBTA. The client was a Seventh Day Adventist who was denied employment at the MBTA because he refused to work on the Sabbath. More than 50 attorneys rejected his case. Katz and Whitehead took his case and represented him at the Mass Commission Against Discrimination and won. When the MBTA appealed the case, Katz and Whitehead defended the client in the Superior Court. Finally, Katz and Whitehead  argued his case before the Supreme Judicial Court which resulted in a victory for the client.

Katz and Whitehead will litigate your case as zealously and aggressively as we represented this client. Please contact us and we will be happy to talk to you. In order to best serve the international communities of Boston, our office employs Spanish and Russian-speaking attorneys on staff, as well as a Korean-speaking receptionist.

Philip H. Whitehead
Philip H. Whitehead has been practicing law with his partner in the same location in Allston, Massachusetts for over thirty years. He is a graduate of the New England School of Law in Boston. During the course of his career he has represented hundreds of clients in divorce, criminal matters, wills, probate of estates, automobile and bicycle accidents, and work injury claims. Fluent in Spanish, he has represented large numbers of clients from Central and South American countries in family law, personal injury and administrative matters at the Industrial Accident Board and the Registry of Motor Vehicles; he has a strong interest in Hispanic culture and a desire to help people with day to day problems that are often unduly complicated by language difficulties.

Gerald Katz
Gerald Katz is a graduate of the University of Chicago majoring in philosophy and economics. He served in the Peace Corps in India for two years. He also worked for the United Farm Workers Union. He graduated from Law School Magna Cum Laude and won the Book Award for outstanding achievement in both Constitutional Law and Evidence. He has argued before the Appeals Court and he has appeared three times before the Supreme Judicial Court. He represented the Plaintiff in a groundbreaking discrimination case in which the Supreme Judicial Court extended the rights of employment accommodation for religious minorities. He specializes in discrimination cases and general litigation.
