DAN H. HONEYWELL was an active trial lawyer from 1970 through 2008. Although his career encompassed a predominantly injured party-practice with emphasis on complex issues, Mr. Honeywell also was called upon frequently to represent defendants and potential defendants with varying and often unique issues. And although his long-career included record verdicts and catastrophic injuries cases, he was equally comfortable representing his neighbor or a friend in small matters or any stranger who had an unusual need or a just cause but found difficulty finding representation.
In addition to being certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a Circuit Civil Mediator in 2009 and an Appellate Mediator in 2011, Dan has been an attorney since 1970 and a board-certified civil trial lawyer since 1983. Mr. Honeywell has also been granted an AV rating in his law practice by Martindale-Hubbell continually since 1978 and has long been repeatedly listed favorably by many peer-review groups, including in Best Lawyers in America since 1993.
In 2008, Dan was encouraged by fellow attorneys to begin a new legal career in ADR, including Mediation. They suggested that although Florida offered many qualified mediators in some areas of the state that his personal and professional skills would offer a valuable alternative or supplemental resource to those who most needed quality mediators throughout the state.
Accordingly, in 2009, Mr. Honeywell completed the extensive additional training process required of professional mediators in Florida and became certified as a Circuit Civil Mediator by the Florida Supreme Court. Thereafter, he formed Honeywell Mediation to be able to offer the full-time, full range of professional ADR services that he wished to offer for his new career.
Dan’s unique credentials and experience offer a valuable resource for those seeking ADR assistance with difficult or multi-party or very complex litigation matters. However, he is equally available to teach and assist others in the rudiments of finding success in the least dispute whether by trial or ADR.
Mr. Honeywell is also honored to be the first Central Florida-based panel member of Mediation Firm, Inc. (formerly, Mediation, Inc.), and to be instrumental in their efforts to re-establish their presence in Central Florida.
