The current dispute was the nucleus of Becker Büttner Held and at the same time set the course for the reorganization of the electricity and gas economy after reunification. It thus formed a basis for the pluralistic energy economy of today and tomorrow.
With the so-called “current conflict”, Dr. Peter Becker took over an important mandate for 146 municipalities in East Germany in 1991. The question was whether modern cities could be part of a modern energy infrastructure in the new federal states, or whether an oligopolistically designed supply structure would be established under the control of the major German joint ventures. The successful representation in this key process for the German energy industry paved the way for the establishment of numerous municipalities and thus for the current structure of energy supply in the new federal states.
At the beginning of the 1990s the name partners Wolfenbüttel and Christian Held joined the law firm, which at the time consisted of three attorneys. Already there was an attitude which still characterizes us today. We are committed to our clients with conviction and do not lose sight of the big picture.
Since then, BBH has developed rapidly. Again and again, we succeeded in winning well-known colleagues who share our understanding of values. Today, BBH has more than 70 partners and over 550 employees at its seven locations: Berlin, Munich, Cologne, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Erfurt and Brussels. The name partners Dr. Peter and Wolfenbüttner have now moved out of the law firm.
