Atherstone & Cook can trace its roots back some 80 years. The present firm was founded by Mr William Atherstone (now deceased) and Lindsay Cook, the current Senior Partner. The firm was established in 1957 and has grown to be one of Zimbabwe’s leading legal firms, specializing in commercial, corporate and tax law, offering a full range of legal services. The firm has nine partners (representing a combined total of over 200 years in practice in Zimbabwe, with considerable specialist expertise), five qualified assistants and six paralegals. Members belong to the Law Society of Zimbabwe.

Atherstone & Cook is a law firm based in Harare, Zimbabwe. We offer and render legal services to clients in Zimbabwe, regionally and internationally. Our clients range from multinationals to individuals. We strive to provide the best legal representation and results to our clients. The firm also supports practical learning, and in this regard on a regular basis offers attachments to students studying in Zimbabwe and elsewhere.

Our client base includes diversified commercial and industrial conglomerates, entrepreneurs, local and multinational banks, trade unions, media houses.

The Firm Today :
The firm has a commercial bias, but also provides advice and services in other fields of law. Each partner has considerable specialist expertise. The firm has corresponding attorney associations with some law firms based outside Harare; and associations with law firms in South Africa. We regularly receive instructions from leading firms of solicitors in London. Chambers Global have for 2013 ranked us in Band 1 (highest) for General Business Law (we had same ranking for 2012). They “publish the leading guides to the legal profession” by “identifying and ranking the world`s best lawyers and law firms”.

Membership:
Atherstone & Cook belongs to two international groups, namely MSI Global Alliance and World Services Group [WSG], and is the exclusive Zimbabwe member in each case
