Vejmelka & Wünsch, s.r.o. was founded in 1990 as a branch office of the Austrian firm Heller, Löber, Bahn & Partner. We thus became one of the first foreign law firms established in the former Czechoslovakia. After merging with the second largest German law firm, Bruckhaus Westrick Stegemann, it was renamed Bruckhaus Westrick Heller Löber, which in 2000 was in turn changed to Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer as a result of a merger with the English law firm Freshfields Deringer.
In 2002 the Prague office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer was taken over by the current partners of Vejmelka & Wünsch, Josef Vejmelka and Petr Wünsch, who had been partners in the above-mentioned foreign law firms. Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer remains one of the foreign firms with which Vejmelka & Wünsch closely co-operates.
