Kimmo Abbasi received an advanced LLM degree in taxation from Georgetown University School of Law. He has a B.A. in Economics from Rutgers University and a J.D. from New York Law School, cum laude. He is admitted to practice in the State and Federal Courts of New Jersey and New York.
After law school he served as a law clerk to the Hon. Mark A. Baber, J.S.C., and the Hon. Maureen Mantineo, J.S.C. of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Chancery Division, Family Part in Hudson County. He has served as an associate in law firms in New Jersey and New York, as corporate counsel to several closely-held corporations in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut and as a municipal public defender for Jersey City.
Mr. Abbasi has substantial experience in corporate law and transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, federal and state tax planning and litigation, local property tax appeals, estate planning, probate practice, elder law, municipal law, commerical and residential real estate transactions and commercial litigation.
He is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and Bergen and Essex County Bar Associations. He has lectured at Harvard Law School in the areas of Islamic Finance, and has published articles in several law journals in the areas of corporate law and Islamic Finance
