More about Myself:
Continuing Education

I regularly attend continuing legal education seminars at the National Association for Consumer Advocates and through the State Bar of Texas. I am a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas, and I subscribe to the National Consumer Law Center series on consumer advocacy. I also work to educate consumers on the topics of consumer law and bankruptcy through my blog and by regularly volunteering at the Legal Aid of Northwest Texas.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I chose to be a lawyer to help people. I really enjoy the idea of consumers gaining the upper hand when creditors violate state or federal consumer protection laws that are designed to prevent unfair corporate and banking practices. I know what people are up against, and I feel strongly about making sure they have the rights or the new start the law intends for them to have.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I have been a lawyer and small business owner for over 15 years. I understand the day to day financial stresses and successes that individuals and families face. In particular, I understand that when a client needs help, they want and need my individual attention. That means a personal relationship with me, not my secretary. I do not run a Mill type of practice. If you are a client dealing with my firm, you will always be able to talk with me personally. I will make sure that whatever course of action we take, it will be in your best interest.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I chose to focus on Consumer Litigation and Debt because I feel strongly about helping people who have been up against an unregulated credit and banking system that stacks the cards against them (no pun intended). I do not envy my opponents who have to go into court on behalf of a Goliath banking and credit industry and try to explain those abuses to a jury.

What do you like best about your career?

I enjoy being in a unique position to help people solve their financial difficulties, and I understand what a relief it can be to have that fresh start. I very much enjoy establishing long-term trusting relationships with people, and using my knowledge and advocacy to help solve problems and achieve goals.
