Overview:

Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP has attorneys strategically located in the world’s principal financial centers. The firm’s origins date to the turn of the century, with such predecessor firms as Riegelman & Bach, Riegelman Hess & Strasser and Strasser Spiegelberg Fried and Frank. Fried Frank as we know it came into being in 1971, with name partners Walter Fried, Hans Frank, Sam Harris, Sargent Shriver and Leslie Jacobson. In the Washington, DC office, the name change took effect in 1985, when partner Max Kampelman of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Kampelman returned to government service.

The New York office, the Firm’s oldest and largest, is concentrated on the business needs of our clients, including: domestic public M&A and private equity; domestic and international capital markets and complex financings; asset management; corporate governance; securities enforcement and regulation; corporate reorganization, bankruptcy and debt restructuring; antitrust; intellectual property and technology; securities and shareholder litigation; white-collar crime; commercial litigation; real estate; benefits and compensation; tax; and trusts and estates.

Our Washington, DC office was opened in 1949 as one of the first, and now one of the largest, nonindigenous law firms. We have strong practices in corporate transactions as well as in securities regulation and enforcement, antitrust, tax, intellectual property and technology, commercial litigation, government contracts, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution, and white-collar crime and internal investigations.

Our London office was established as one of the first European offices of a US law firm. Our Paris office was founded in 1993, and our Frankfurt office was established in 2004. And our Hong Kong office opened in 2006 and our Shanghai office opened a year later in 2007. All of our international offices have strong expertise in mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, litigation and real estate practices.
