Question

Removing name from lawsuit

The question

I have a strange question that I was hoping somone could help me with. My best friend is going through a messy divorce. Her husband is currently suing for a slip and fall injury and had her sign a paper to put her name on the suit while they were together. She did not see it happen but he told her that she could not get a job because she needed to stay at home to take care of him. She is now wondering if the accident actually happened, due to some of the things he said during arguements that they have had. She doesn't want to get caught up in anything illegal and would like her name removed from the lawsuit. How do we do this? Do we just contact the attorney representing both of them and tell him that she wants her name off of it? Or do we have to file some type of paperwork? She doesn't hava a lot of money because he wouldn't let her work while they were together. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I would suggest that she contact the attorney and explain the situation. I'm sure he/she can tell her what she has to do to legally remove herself from the lawsuit and if there is any paperwork involved. I hope everything works out for your friend.
