Question

Refunds to patients

Asked 3 October 2012 · needs an answer

The question

I work for a large doctors office and recently a patient called and said she recently discovered that she was over charged for some procedures by almost $1000 back in 2009! Upon reviewing her account it is accurate and she is owed almost $1000. The doctor is not wanting to pay because she claims there is a law that she does not have to pay a patient back if the money has been on the books for over a year. I have tried to research this and cannot find any such law in place. Can somebody give me some guidance or tell me options that the patient has should she try to fight this?
