Question

Online Skill Contests

Asked 13 November 2011 · needs an answer

The question

I have this idea in my head that I want to start a website that offers skill-based games to be played for money. The games will be explicitly 100% skill-based with no element of chance, will require consideration, and will offer monetary prizes. It will be open to residents of states where skill-based games for money are allowed, and it will adhere to state laws.

My questions are:

What are the legal provisions required to start and maintain such a site?

Is it possible to host the site within the United States? I know that worldwinner.com hosts their site in Massachusetts. Does hosting a website and the laws restricting it depend on the site it's hosted in?

Thanks for your consideration.
