The question
My mortgage was recently sold to a new loan company. I contacted the new company to see if I can refinance for a lower interest rate. They were all set to approve the new rate, but their system kept rejecting it. Turns out, the old loan company still holds mortgage insurance on my property/loan! How is this possible? I cannot refinance my loan as long as they hold this insurance with themselves as the beneficiary. Is this legal? How can they get away with this??
