I am by no means a lawyer, but if a judgement was rendered against you for 8,174.28, and you paid it, they can't go double dip on you. Go to court, explain that you can't have 2 judgements against you for the same thing. They can't decide later that it's not enough. And it may be a shady company that bought the debt that is trying to milk more money out of you.
The question
This is my Situation I borrowed $5000 to personal loan and used it to pay for College years ago.
In 2005 I was taken to Court and the judge ordered me to get garnished for the amount owed.
I just received a summons to go back to Court because they are saying tht I successfully paid them $8 174.28 and now that money accrued interest of $4169.43 and they want to garnish me for that..why wasnt this included in the first garnishment is this legal...$12 000 for a loan of $5000? What are my chances if I go to Court? What do I do I cant afford a Lawyer so It will only be me. Please advise. I know too that if I go to Court I will have to pay their Court fees so the amount will sky rocket??? help!!
