The question
Hi, My roommate and I lived in an apartment with severe black mold damage. At the time we were on a month to month lease. When they moved us to the apartment next door they forced us to sign a 6 month lease or move even though the damage was through no fault of our own. We signed the lease thinking we did not have a choice. What I would like to know is if this was legal for them to do and how to fight this as now they are requiring us to pay additional deposits. Due to all the frustrations this situation has caused we no longer want to live here and are scared that we will be penalized for breaking the lease. Any advice would be appreciated!
