Question

Trademark registration: Plain vs stylized text!

Asked 23 April 2010 · 1 answer

The question

I wish to register my company trademark, which is a custom styled text of the business name. What would be better to register first- the plain text of the name, or the stylized text?

The plain text, known as standard character, will give you broader protection of the mark. If you file for the mark in standard character format the mark is then protected in any font, style, color, etc.

Hope this helps,
