The question

I am a 56 year old male in the state of Tennessee. I filed for divorce in June 2011. The divorce is contested over her demanding half the value of my home that I inherited. Approx value of home is $125,000.00. Depositions were given in March 2012. Now, my attorney refuses to use the mediator her attorney suggested and her attorney refuses to use the mediator my attorney suggested. Mexican stand off!! I call or go by to see my attorney every week. She could care less because she still living here. She does not help with ANY bills or housework. If I fire my attorney and hire a new one will the entire process have to start over. What options do I have????

Thank you for having a web sight with actual free help!

If you hire a new lawyer, it would depend on you and the attorney to start over or pick up where the previous one left off. As to locating a mediator, is there someone with counseling experience both you and your spouse trust? A minister or priest from a church you attend? If you and your spouse can agree on a mediator, neither of you need the attorneys' consent. It's advisable to have their consent of course, but its not required to obtain a mediator.
