HIPPA Violation?

The question

I recently went to a Physician for a pre-emploment physical. he had a question about a med that I am on. ent me back to my doctor to get a waiver. My doctor got all bent out of shape and faxed a non signed form back. So i had to go back the next day. after a lengthy discussion about how they would or wouldnt sign it because they didnt understand what the other doctor was asking for( they could of just read the form). they asked me to sign a medical release form. and i specifically noted that i only wanted info about the med in question released. well, long story short they talked to the other doctor about all my medical history and conditions and i lost the job. ive already filed a complaint with HHS/OCR. was wondering if there is any legal avenue to proceed down. in Michigan

Both the potential HIPAA violation, and the failure to read the forms correctly could constitute negligence. It might be worth it to speak with a lawyer. Most give free case evaluations, either online through sties like this, over the phone, or at their offices.

Good luck!
