The question

I am trying to find out if you need legal documentation to stating that someone is the guardian of a child. I am going through a custody battle with my ex and he put his Mother a my son's guardian on his school paperwork, is it illegal to state someone as a guardian if it has not been ordered by the courts, She is not listed as an emergency contact, it says her realtionship to the child is guardian, can i get my ex in trouble for this? PLease please please help me.

Guardianship typically involves paperwork and documentation because guardianship means something very specific, and grants very specific rights, under the law.

If you are trying to show your ex committed perjury though, i.e. lying under oath or on paper, you have to show that your ex knew that the information was false and did it anyway.
