Elder Abuse

Asked 12 February 2009 · 2 answers

The question

My sister tricked my father into signing a paper for a auto loan. She told him it was to verify her address. He signed the paper not knowing what it really was for.

Now she is behind payments and cannot pay. This paper was not notarized. Is he responsible for the loan?

You may want to consider reporting this to the appropriate authorities or consulting a lawyer who is experienced in elder law to figure out what your options are.

In my opinion you should go to a attorney who deals such type of cases and let your attorney guide you to the next step of legal action against your sister. It definitely comes under financial elder abuse and your sister has to pay the money for the loan.
