Several years ago I pled guilty to a misdemeanor in the State Of Georgia. Ordered to "pay fine and banished from Chatham County". I paid my fine and have not gone back. A couple of years ago while living in VA I tried to purchase a gun for deer hunting and background check showed me as a felon in Georgia !!!I was charged with giving fraudulent information and had to go to court..the case was dismissed after they got a rap sheet and saw no fraudulent charges, after much protest by me that I am not a felon !!! I went through a lot channels trying to get this removed to no avail. Finally decided I could live without deer hunting..Now I have moved to Florida..I am a nurse, and when trying to transfer my license from VA to FL the old "felon in Georgia" reared it's head once more..Finally ...Finally found help in GA and the mistake was corrected now this is my problem State board of nursing in FL has run the background check and saw "felon in GA" authorities in GA fixed it, but will not give letter saying they were the ones who did so. FL will not accept my word for it, they need something in writing from GA...GA wants letter from state board of nursing in FL with letterhead and they will respond directly to them..FL state board of nursing will not do that, and will not run background check again , because "any computer geek could fix that"!!! any advice ???
