Tapia, Linares y Alfaro, also known as TALIAL, was founded in 1949 by Felipe S. Tapia C., who in the early days of his professional career participated in the organization of the Shipping Bureau of Panama, today known as Direction of Merchant Marine of the Panama Maritime Authority.

Since its foundation, more than 65 years ago, the firm has stood out as one of the most prestigious and important in the country, both for its strong international practice in incorporating companies and registration of ships, and for its complete and well-developed local practice with an emphasis on banking law, corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, litigation, arbitration, labor law, immigration law, government procurement, antitrust and consumer protection, energy, real estate, intellectual property and taxes.

Amongst TALIAL’s attorneys there are a former Deputy Justice of the Supreme Court, a former Justice Clerk of the First Superior Court of Justice, a former Deputy Minister of Education, a former Tax Treaties Negotiator, as well as university professors in the branches of Civil Law, Commercial Law and Tax Law of the most renowned and prestigious universities in the country.

All the members of the firm have been actively involved and have distinguished themselves within the academic, business, legal, civic and political circles of the country and have been members of boards of professional associations such as the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama, the Panamanian Association of Banking Law, the Panamanian Association of Maritime Law, the International Lawyers Association, the Panamanian Association of Industrial Property and the Panamanian Association of Financial and Tax Law.
