Percy Hughes & Roberts and the Community

Percy Hughes & Roberts Solicitors has a long tradition within the law industry for providing active and practical help to the community we serve.
Many partners and solicitors in Percy Hughes & Roberts have been actively involved with various voluntary organisations including Women’s Refuge, Business in the Arts, Victim Support, the Council for Voluntary Service and others within the Merseyside area.
All staff are encouraged to become involved with community organisations in addition to nominating a local charity to support each year.

We have links with several local schools and colleges and regularly take students on work experience placements to assist with their career choice and development.
We are proud these efforts have, in recent years, been recognised by being awarded 2 awards. In 2007 we were presented with the Liverpool Law Society Presidents Award for Pro Bono work.

Charitable Donations

The partners and staff at Percy Hughes & Roberts are keen fund raisers for a number of charities. We support a number of local charities. We hold dress down days and fund raising events throughout the year to raise money.

Charity of the Year

Each year we support one charity as our charity of the year. We raise funds for the charity, primarily inside the office. This year’s charity is Stick ‘n’ Step.

Stick ‘n’ Step is a Merseyside charity that helps children aged 18 months-18 years with cerebral palsy achieve the greatest independence possible. Seventy children from across the North West and North Wales come to the centre in Wallasey to learn life skills that will help them lead more independent and fulfilling lives. The charity was formed in 2002 by a group of parents of children with cerebral palsy who wanted to provide their children and others with free conductive education. Since then hundreds of children have come through the doors. Some have learnt to sit up, hold a cup, and dress themselves while others have learnt to walk, run, and even play football. Along the way they have formed lifelong friendships and gained in confidence and self-esteem.

Parents who have received a diagnosis of cerebral palsy for their child will find the charity, usually through a Google search or word of mouth. Their children will be assessed by a senior member of staff and, if there is a place for them, will start attending twice-weekly sessions that are organised according to age and ability. The future is brighter not only for them, but for their families and communities as well.
